Who Can Be a Gatekeeper?
Anyone and everyone who comes in contact with seniors can be a Gatekeeper! However, generally speaking, Gatekeepers are usually employees of corporations, businesses and other community groups who interact with seniors as part of their work or lifestyle. For example:
- Mail and newspaper carriers
- Tellers and other bank personnel
- Apartment and mobile home park managers/owners
- Meter readers, office workers and repair personnel from utility companies (e.g. gas, hydro, phone, water)
- Cashiers and delivery people for pharmacies, grocery stores and other retail businesses
- Fire, ambulance and police services
- Landscape/Snow Removal personnel
- Ministers and laypersons within the various church communities
- Fuel oil, grain and farm equipment dealers
- Property appraisers and tax assessors
- Insurance adjusters and advisers
