There are many situations and signs that may alert you as a Gatekeeper that a person is experiencing some difficulty managing alone or is potentially at risk. The most common indicators are listed in the Signs of Risk section. If you observe any one or a combination of these signs, it could indicate referral to the Gatekeeper Program is needed. It is important to remember that you are looking for changes in a person's overall ability to function not just isolated incidents. If the individual you are concerned about is new to you, check first with others who may know the person to see if they have noticed any changes in the person's functioning or had a similar experience.
