Certainly. Most agencies will accept referrals from community members. If you are confident you know which agency offers the support programs the older person requires, call them directly. The Gatekeepers Program is there to assist you when you are concerned about someone and are not sure who to call.

 In times of financial constraint and funding cuts, the mandate of many social and health care service agencies are changing. Many of the programs we used to rely on have been discontinued or have limited eligibility criteria. It can be frustrating trying to ‘track down’ the right service provider.
